Objectives of the CPS

The Centre for Parliamentary Studies aims to develop and enhance the parliamentary activity, legislative process and parliamentary democracy through studies and research, organization of activities and training process in this field.

In order to achieve the objectives, the Centre would engage senior local and foreign experts and ensure the support of analogous organizations abroad. The Centre aims to publish a periodical review on parliamentary practices.
It will contribute also with training of the young scholars of the legislative field through other forms of co-operation with local and foreign universities, institutions, foundations and organizations.

Why Centre for Parliamentary Studies

Development and democratization of the institution of Parliament makes one of the principal directions of the institutional reforms in Albania. This process assumes a special importance in the light of the way the Parliament is built and the role played during the different stages of the establishment and development of the Albanian state.

The founding members, who have served for a long time as advisors in the Parliament, decided to set up this centre to promote and develop the positive traditions in this field and to contribute for further development in parliamentary activities.

The Centre has been set up as a non-political and non-profit making NGO. Through its activities, studies and analysis, by using the experience of other countries in the parliamentary field as well, the Centre aims at influencing objectively in the process of the development and modernization of the Parliament.
